Would be fantastic.. if it toasted bread on both sides! September 7, 2010 YummyMommi This toaster is fantastic. It has a countdown timer, toasts quickly and looks great. Only problem is that it only toasted the bread on one side. Returning it for the same model. Hope the second unit works better.
Consumer Reprt Rated August 30, 2010 Good Book Reader (Ohio) The reason I bought this particular toaster is that Consumer Report gave it a high rating. I have been using it for three months. I wanted a toaster that would toast both sides of the bread. I usually am just toasting one piece. This didn't, at first, but after a few trys, it does a good job. I use it for toast and sometimes, bagels.
It has a toasting countdown which I have found useful. It doesn't make a sound when finished but has a blue countdown light. It is a good looking toaster. The only thing I do not like about the toaster is you must unplug it or the countdown light remains on. The manual does tell you to unplug it.
Great toaster August 25, 2010 Nancy L. Hawkins (FL USA) We have gone through several toasters trying to find one that really works. We found it. This is the best toaster. It toasts bread perfectly everytime. We are very happy with this Cuisinart toaster. We would recommend this toaster to our friends.
Love this toaster! August 25, 2010 Medieval lady This toaster may be a little pricey and hard to find, but it is absolutely worth it, in my opinion. It came highly recommended by Consumer Reports magazine and it has performed exactly as promised. My toast comes out perfect every time, even if the bread has been in the freezer. And I especially love knowing how soon the toast is going to be ready.

I researched toasters. There doesn't seem to be a clear winner. I have other Cuisinart stuff, and this one looks nice so I went with it. The blue LED display doesn't have a very good viewing angle. The blue LED stays on all the time. The slots are not very wide. My standard size bread sometimes doesn't go down when I push the lever, because it is touching both ends of the slot. These issues are not really a big deal. The real issue is that the max setting toasts for 3 minutes from a cold toaster and some 2.5 minutes from a warm toaster. This is just enough to toast my bread just barely golden brown. I have to put it in for another 45 seconds to get the toast I went, and guess what happens if I forget to pop it up? This is what I hated about my last cheap ass toaster! I am actually considering taking it apart to see if I can't change a resistor or something to get a longer toast time. I understand different breads toast differently, but beware that this toaster may not handle all bread. FWIW, the old toaster could burn my bread on max and I had to set it to about 75% to get a good toast. On the bright side, the Cuisinart toaster does toast pretty evenly.
