Buy another brand! September 1, 2010 QMAB (Gladstone, Michigan United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My excitement to own The B & D T4569B 4-slice toaster went up in smoke, or I should say "turned to toast" from the first bagel, muffin and bread slice I tried. The toasting time is erratic, and slow, meaning that each usage is trial and error. I've tried and tried, and error-ed and error-ed, and now I'm stuck with this piece of junk. Are "quality" and "integrity" merely concepts?
Toasts like a champ! August 24, 2010 John Dowdell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This toaster is cheap, and looks a little on the cheap side, but it toasts like a champ.
Nice even toasting, with a good range of controls.
Terrible Toaster August 22, 2010 E. M. Zollinger (Western New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This toaster is an ill-conceived mess! I know, it's a toaster, what do I expect? Well, I expect that it should take less than 6 minutes to make toast. I expect that when the toast FINALLY pops up, that I will be able to extract the toast with my fingers without risking electrocution. On other toasters, when you push the lever up, the baskets extend jut slightly so the toast is easily accessible. Not this toaster. Unless the toast is taller than the basket, you're digging down in the basket to retrieve the toast. So.... every time I want to make toast, it takes forever, then I have to unplug the toaster so I can dig around in the baskets with tongs or a knife to get the toast out. It isn't as if I'm toasting miniature items - "regular" wheat bread requires an extraction tool to retrieve. I would not recommend this toaster to anyone - especially those families with children who a) want toast in an expedient fashion and b) don't want the hassle of unplugging the appliance in order to retrieve the toast.
Satisfied with this toaster July 19, 2010 PRAISE THE LORD (FLORENCE, SC, US) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The toaster was received on time and in good condition. We were a little concerned about buying B & D after some of the reviews we read, but we are happy with this toaster so far.(We also bought a B&D toaster oven at the same time.)
We purchased this toaster to replace an old one that did not have slots wide enough to toast bagels. We are pleased with the quality of the toast we get with this toaster. The toasted item is done evenly. (except for rye bread which won't go all the way into the toaster.)The manufacturers' suggested settings for the amount of darkness are just about right.
We usually store our toaster in the pantry when it is not in use, but the appearence of this one is good enough to permit letting it sit on the counter full time. B&D makes an edition of this model for Target that looks even nicer. (chrome trim fancier push buttons etc.) It also costs more.
The only thing we would lke to see improved is the amount of distance the lever raises bagels and other similar sized items you are trying to remove from the toaster. We have to use a plastic fork to remove this type of item. It would also be nice if we could get a slice of rye bread all the way into the toaster.
So far, we would recommend this toaster. (We have only been using it about 1 month. Have not had any trouble with it yet.)
