| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description It's not just a toaster - it's bakes and broils, too! A handsome unit constructed of highly polished stainless steel, this spacious toaster oven uses convection to circulate heated air around food for fast, more even cooking. In fact, two sets of three quartz heating-elements - a total output of 1600 watts - cook food up to 30% faster. An easy-to-read digital LCD display is a breeze to use. The unique crumb tray and nonstick interior surface make cleanup a pleasure. One-year warranty.

fire hazard August 31, 2010 madlent We bought this oven awhile ago, and loved it until one day when toasting a bagel, all the controls went blank and we couldn't shut the oven off. We had to unplug the unit. We lived with that for awhile, and it kept happening more and more, no matter where we were placing the toast. It seemed like steam was building up and leaking out of the glass door near the controls which rendered them useless. Given that we like the appliance so much, we threw it out (after it finally caught fire), and ordered another one. Same thing is now happening with this one. $300+ now down the drain, I'm now looking for a different brand. Truly is a fire hazard.
Would Never Buy This Krappy Krups Toaster Oven Again August 25, 2010 Triana Zenyth Chief complaint is that the mechanism that holds the door closed and the one that allowed it to open to 90 degrees broke just after the warranty expired. The metal hinge bracket just completely cracked apart.
Two of the rubber feet stuck to our cabinet floor, took the paint off and removed themselves.
We still use the oven because I was able to jerry-rig it to stay closed and set up a stop mechanism to keep the door from flopping all the way over and smashing the glass. But those things shouldn't have broken after a year of minimal use.
On a minor note, I would prefer a lower decibel level and less obnoxious pitch to the 5 beeps telling me the cooking is done.
The toaster/oven part works fine.
I should mention that I'm Triana's husband.
Many good features... for less than 2 years August 23, 2010 Laurent Carrer, Ph.D. (Encinitas, Californie) We've owned this toaster twice; in both cases, we enjoyed the features and design, but it died on us after about 1.5 year. The problems we experienced seem consistent w/ those of other customers: the door stopped closing, and the buttons got stuck. We're switching to a different brand.
Mixed results, made in China (nuff said) August 3, 2010 ARealAVFan (Acworth, GA) I love the design of this Krups toaster oven. Since all toaster ovens are made in China, I've unfortunately learned that they pretty much all have a lifetime of about 3 years before they die, or catch fire. After about a year and a half, my Krups door stopped closing completely, and we have to smack it a few times for it to stay in place. Also, the digital buttons have ALL started misbehaving, and they take some effort to press them just right to get them to work. I had previously gone through a couple of less expensive toaster ovens made by Cui*****t, and they both died within 3 years. With my Krups approaching 3 years, I'm expecting it to die sometime soon. It's a shame that everything overseas is made so poorly, as the design on the Krups is the best of the toaster ovens, for my purposes. I toast bread and English muffins with it, make personal sized pizzas, heat dinner rolls and muffins, and it always cooks evenly and reliably. So, I'll continue to enjoy it for now, but I'll never operate it when I'm out of the room. Our friends overseas give us lots of nice cheap stuff, but ultimately it can't be trusted to last very long. I would give this Krups 5 stars for design, but the reliability, build quality, and offshored country of substandard manufacturing combine to lower my rating to 3 at best.
This toaster oven is awesome!!! July 29, 2010 Happy Traveler I have owned this toaster oven for about a year and a half now, and we use is almost every day. I live in a house with my husband- no kids or other roomies, and we often found it frustrating to heat up the normal oven to cook dinner. It took a long time, made the whole kitchen hot and we felt like it was a waste of energy when we were cooking small meals for two people. Our old toaster oven was also a Krups, and was never awesome. I was tentative about getting this because of poor experiences with their past models, but this toaster oven kicks butt!
We use this toaster oven for so many different meals; it is truly amazing. We can use it to cook frozen pizza- it fits a 12" pizza perfectly. We use it for a small meatloaf, and it comes out cooked very evenly and juicy. We frequently use it to cook things out of the freezer, such as chicken fingers, and they're always crispy and restaurant quality. We also use this oven for baking fresh breads, but you do have to be careful as it rises that it doesn't get too close to the upper elements. This thing can bake potatoes, cookies and breads. It can reheat frozen foods or last night's dinner. It is far and away the best toaster oven I've ever owned!
One of the nicest things about this toaster oven is that it doesn't require any pre-heating. I turn it on and within a minute or two it is up to the correct temperature. I feel like it's saving a lot of energy costs over our full-sized gas oven that takes 10-15 minutes to pre-heat. I love that it doesn't turn off when you open the door- so if you have to flip something half-way through cooking, it's a snap!
The only thing that this toaster oven doesn't do well is... toast. We still use an old-school toaster for toasting bread, bagels and eggos. I think those just do better closer to the elements than they can really be in a toaster oven.
